How Much Should I Tell My
People? --
Corrections Colleague,
An executive concern for many bosses is the question, "how much
do my people need to know?" Unfortunately, many choose to
withhold information.
Here's what I think. If you want results from people, you have
to let them know the facts. The what, when, why and how's of a
situation. When people don't know the information, they fill in
the blanks. This is how rumors and gossip start.
Good bosses keep their people informed and they do it promptly.
It is crucial to getting results and keeping a satisfied and
committed team.
The question should be -- "What is the best way to get this
information to the folks quickly and accurately for best
results?"
