Last
month, I joined a breakfast event featuring
Joe Leonard, Airtran CEO.
I want to share a couple key points from the
session that stood out to me . Mr. Leonard
was asked what key steps he learned early in
his career that have helped him. Without
hesitating, Mr. Leonard responded saying;
-
Attention to detail
-
Planning - business and contingency (as in
"plan for the worst and hope for the
best")
-
Goal setting
-
Setting High expectations, and
-
Doing deals
These are best practices inherent with
leaders of successful organizations today -
private or public. I bet you have these
practices too plus one or two of your own.
I would add one more a mentor taught me, and
that is to;
6.
Inspect what you expect
I cannot tell you how much headache this
practice has saved me! If you haven't
already, consider adding it to your arsenal.
Later in that session, Mr. Leonard talked
about practices that helped him get Airtran
to the next level. I will share those with
you next week.
Shoot me a note. What key steps have helped
you lead your organization? I will be happy
to share that with the others.
Now go have a great week!
