Role modeling as a coaching tool 

Your employees and subordinates look up to you.  This is true.  Indeed your behavior on the job may be the best coaching tool you have.  Employees watch you and observe how you do the things you do, how you communicate with them and the way you handle situations.  It does not stop there.  Many then approach what they do the same way.  To this day there are things I do because I learned or simply picked it up from my bosses.  I would use their exact words and motion the same way in spite of myself!  I bet you do too.

For that reason, one of your best coaching tools is you.  Behave the way you expect your employees to - or your children and anyone else you influence.  To be a great coach, you must be a great example.
